Statement of Faith
The Light of Life Community Church is founded on these basic beliefs:
1. We believe in The Trinity. The Old and New Testaments of the Bible explicitly reveals that there is one God who exists eternal in three Persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is Creator of the Universe and He reigns Sovereign over all. He created man in His image and likeness and enjoyed a perfect relationship with man. After the Fall of man, God prepared a way to return man to his rightful relationship through His Son, Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ is God and He is the only begotten Son of God. He is the Living Word of God through which all things were created. Through the miraculous conception of the Virgin Mary, Jesus Christ entered into the world as man in order to redeem mankind. He is completely God and completely man.
The Holy Spirit is God. He is the Giver of Life. He is seen in the Old Testament often working and speaking through Prophets. In the New Testament, He was fully given fully to the Church. Today He works in our lives to develop us into the image of Jesus. He empowers us to serve Jesus, and to be witnesses to His name. The Holy Spirit is fully released in our lives by the baptism of the Holy Spirit, which happens after salvation. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is shown both inwardly and outwardly by many different ways.
2. We believe that the Bible is the Word of God. The Bible, Old and New Testaments, is the infallible, perfect Word of God. It was written by God through Divinely inspired men. It cannot be added to or taken away from.
It is the ultimate truth and authority. Every other word is subject to it.
3. We believe that Salvation is a free gift from God. Salvation is God’s gracious gift that comes only through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He made the sacrifice for all of mankind but redemption comes only when we receive Christ as our Savior.
4. We believe that we have a mandate to make disciples. It is up to God’s Church to spread the Gospel of Salvation throughout our community and the world in order to bring men to Christ.
5. We believe in Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Jesus instituted these sacraments when He was on earth and we continue them to this day.
Water baptism is simply the outward sign of the inner work God has already done in the individual’s life. It is a sign of joining in Christ’s death to sin and His resurrection into life in righteousness, as well as a statement to all that the person being baptized now belongs to Christ.
The Lord’s Supper is done in honor and remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice until His return, and is a sign of our participation in Him.
6. We believe in the Second Coming. Christ will return and when he does, we will reign with Him until the final judgment. During the final judgment God will judge all of mankind and it is our relationship with Christ that will determine our eternal destiny.
